Dr. Arun Basil Mathew is a globally recognized medical leader with expertise spanning cardiac surgery, trauma care, sports medicine, maritime health, and anti-doping advocacy.
An alumnus of AIIMS New Delhi and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Dr. Mathew brings over two decades of multi-specialty clinical and leadership experience. He holds distinguished certifications as an Eminent Global ATLS Instructor by the American College of Surgeons and a Renowned Wilderness Medicine Expert and Instructor by Adventure Med USA, reflecting his authority in trauma care and remote medical response.
Dr. Mathew is a Certified Medical Professional for Major International Games by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and has served as Liaison Officer to the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA). A strong global voice for clean sport and fair play, he has conducted numerous anti-doping education programs for athletes worldwide. His mission is to promote equal opportunity, athlete health, and inclusivity in sports, ensuring integrity on and off the field.
He has served as chief medical officer, infection control specialist, and anti-doping expert for major international events, including the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, and various other international sporting events. He currently chairs the Medical Subcommittee of the Asian Paralympic Committee and serves as Chief Medical Officer for the International Mind Sports Association, Lausanne, Switzerland, and the Fencing Association of India.
A published researcher and humanitarian at heart, Dr. Mathew continues to contribute to global health through medical research, academic publications, and surgical missions for underserved populations. As a former national-level athlete and sports administrator, his passion for athlete care and performance optimization remains at the core of his professional mission.
