BSOP Millions, held in São Paulo, recorded over 26,000 entries across 90 tournaments during the event
The Brazilian Poker Championship concluded the 2024 season with a historic record at the BSOP Millions. Over R$95 million was distributed in prizes throughout the 15 days of the event, spanning 90 tournaments at the WTC Sheraton in São Paulo (SP). The BSOP, recognized as the Brazilian Poker Championship, had already guaranteed a record-breaking R$60 million prize pool even before the competitions began. Despite the high value, this milestone was surpassed by the tenth day of the event.
Once again proving that the highest individual sports prize in Brazil comes from Poker, the BSOP’s final stage featured tournaments offering million-dollar prizes to five champions. Additionally, five other players earned seven-figure payouts.
The standout in terms of prize money was the “The Legends” tournament, which had a buy-in (entry fee) of R$250,000, an unprecedented figure in Brazilian Poker. The champion, Leandro Zavodini, secured the largest prize ever awarded in the Brazilian Poker Championship: R$3.5 million. The other top three players also took home million-dollar prizes.
The tournaments held over the 15-day event featured buy-ins ranging from R$500 to R$250,000 and included competitions across various Poker modalities. Players from 42 countries and all states in Brazil participated, contributing to the 26,408 entries across the 90 scheduled tournaments.
As is traditional, Poker competitions are open: even amateur players can register and challenge the biggest names in the game.
Devanir Campos, CEO of the BSOP, celebrated the success of the event and the continued growth of the game in Brazil. “In 2022, we distributed R$46 million in prizes at the BSOP Millions, a record. In 2023, we surpassed that with over R$72 million, and now we’ve come
close to R$100 million. These figures place us as the third-largest sports prize in the country, behind only football tournaments like the Brazilian Championship and the Copa do Brasil. The growth of Poker is impressive, and 2025 promises to be the biggest year in the history of the game in Brazil.”
The 2025 season of the Brazilian Poker Championship is already scheduled to kick off from February 6 to 11 in Costa do Sauípe, Bahia. For more information, visit the official BSOP website.
